Today with Julian – November 9th
We are not only Christ’s by His paying for us,
but also by the gracious gift of His Father
we are His bliss;
we are His recompense;
we are His honor;
we are His crown
(and this was a particular wonder
and a wholly Delightful vision
that we are His crown.)
This that I describe is such a great bliss to Jesus
that He sets at naught
all His labor
and His hard Passion
and His cruel and shameful death.
And in these words:
“If I could suffer more, I would suffer more,”
I saw truly that as often as He could die,
so often He would,
and love would never let Him have rest
until He had done it.
(Julian, Chapter XX)
The greatest gift from God, and the greatest wisdom we may have, is to know how greatly God loves us.
